Legend of the Monkey Pura Bukit Sari

Sangeh in Bali is a village where the founding Pura Bukit Sari, built in the 17th century AD. In the temple compound is a lot of monkeys roam the very tame.

Based on local legend, the temple of Bukit Sari and the monkeys who reigned there was part of a fall while mountain Mahameru moved by Hanuman (white monkey character in the epic Ramayana). Another story says that the monkeys is the embodiment of the Warrior Princess. Ashtar Daffa / AFP.
