New Strawberry Color Purple

Horticultural scientists still are not satisfied just let nature that determine the form of strawberry. Recently, they announced it has sprouted a new kind of strawberry called Purple Wonder.

"Purple Wonder has a sweet and aromatic, with a strawberry flavor that is unmatched. But its color is something that is not likely to be found in any grocery store," said Courtney Weber, a professor of horticulture at Cornell University.

"The color spread in the whole fruit, which may surprise customers because of the color of the fruit in the supermarket is mostly just on the surface. And let the fruit is ripe on the tree will make it more sweet," he added.

Reported by Live Science, the strawberry-sized, first appeared white, turn red, then the color will darken to a deep purple.

Cornell University has compiled an exclusive license agreement with the company's nursery W. Atlee Burpee Co. to sell seeds Purple Wonder. The plan, the seeds that will be marketed to home gardeners who normally keep in your backyard, or in a pot.

Purple Wonder plants were bred to be tough with various temperatures in different regions of the United States, disease and insect resistant, and has good taste.
