Plants can Responds to Voice
Some people believe the plant was able to show a reaction to exposure to light. What about the sound stimulus? Research carried out Monica Gagliano and his team of Western Australia University, found the plant is able to react to the sounds of certain frequencies.
As reported by Business Times international calls, the study aims to demonstrate the roots of young plants that react to certain kinds of sounds. "I worked one day in the garden of herbs and plants begin to ask, maybe plants are also sensitive to noise. So, I decided to find out," said Monica Gagliano.
In that study, Monica Gagliano who assisted Daniel Robert from Bristol University and Stefano Mancuso Universty of Florence, discover the roots of young corn was able to demonstrate the interaction as if issuing a click. Corn roots are fed into the water are also able to react begrerak leaning towards the sound source that is constantly emitted at a frequency of 220Hz.
Not only that, the scientists also found that plants are also able to communicate with other plants by releasing special chemical substances. "Everyone knows that plants react to light, and scientists also know that plants use volatile chemicals to communicate with each other when there is danger. As herbivores such approach," he explained
Previous studies of the reactions of these plants have been raised by Lyall Watson, a botanist from South Africa in his book Supernature in 1973. Watson when it claimed the plants have emotions. Even doing, emotions such plants may be enrolled in a lie detector. Watson claims that the findings appear to be bent by Gagliano and his team. The latest results will be published in the journal International Trends in Plant Science
