The Totally Bizarre Human Body

1. Electric Man Sits as 200,000 Volts Pass Through His Body

The Electric Chair can kill in inmate with less than 2,000 volts -- but Dr. Peter Terren lets 200,000 volts pass through his body in just 15 seconds.
He calls this pose "The Modern Thinker" after the famous Auguste Rodin statue, "The Thinker."

Believe it or not, the amateur physicist told WAToday.com.au that he wants to convey the concept of the modern electrical age with the barrage of electrical interference in our lives"

Terren told the newspaper that he wraps his torso, arms and legs in insulation and wears a tin foil cap under a wig, along with a wire mesh mass. The sparks coming off his foot are from steel wool stuck to his shoe.

And believe it or not, he says it was all painless.

2. My Mom Is Covered in Tattoos!
She's the daughter of a bishop and mother of three -- and she's covered in head to toe with tattoos.
Jinxi isn't just covered in tattoos -- she's practically an expert. She's co-written and edited three tattoo-related books, and serves as editor and senior writer for Tattooist Art Magazine.

Think she's got a lot of tattoos? I interviewed Julia Gnuse, the world's most tattooed woman. Julia has 95 percent of her body covered in art, with images of everyone from the Beatles to the cast of Bewitched, and you can read more about her right here.

3. The Longest Tongue in America
Think Gene Simmons has a long tongue? You should see what Nick Afanasiev is packing.
The actor's tongue extends 3.5 inches past his lips -- or just .36 inches short of the world record.

That long tongue has landed Afanasiev spots on everything from The Tonight Show to iCarly.

Afanasiev was born in Moscow, but moved to Philadelphia at the age of 6.

He's been involved in film, television and BMX bike racing -- but he'll never get out from under that tongue, which helped him shoot to fame when he posted a video of it on YouTube. Of course.

May it continue to grow.

4. Meet a Woman With More than 19 Feet of Hair
How do you get 19 feet of hair? Just don't cut it for, say, a couple of decades.
Asha Mandela hasn't been clipped in 22 years -- giving her a record of more than 19 feet of dreadlocks, according to Guinness.

Amazingly, she first entered the record books with just 8 feet of hair -- forgetting all the tied up locks hidden in her hair.

It took 14 hours for a hairdresser to straighten them out -- but when she did, Mandela placed another call to the Guinness folks and had her numbers adjusted.

Mandela was born in Trinidad & Tobago, but is currently a U.S. citizen living in Florida where she create and sells -- you guessed it -- hair products.

5. 'Wolf Girl' Supatra "Nat" Sasuphan: World's Hairiest Teen
You won't find many teenage girls happy about their facial hair -- but Bangkok's Supatra "Nat" Sasuphan breaks the mold in more whats than one.
"Being hairy makes me special," she told Guinness World Record after being named world's hairiest teenager. "This the happiest day of my life!"

The remarkable growth that's given Nat her distinctive Wolf Girl look is the rest of a condition called hypertrichosis.

And yes, it's known colloquially as "Werewolf Syndrome."

"She's a remarkable little girl," said Guinness judge Marco Frigatti. "She's proud of who she is and wants to be treated just like everyone else. She's not the one with the problem; it's only those who treat her differently who've got the problem."

6. Magic Fingers: Magnetic Implants Give People Extra Lift
I'm not sure what the practical reasons for this are, but some people are getting their fingertips cut open and having tiny magnets implanted inside.
This gives them the power to defeat super villains... or at least lift tiny metal objects like paperclips and bottlecaps, according to the Strikingly True, the latest book from Ripley's Believe It or Not!

I "believe" it... I'm just "not" sure why anyone would do this to themselves.

Ripley's says not everyone feels limited to the fingertips... some folks are getting magnets placed everywhere from the earlobes to the back of the hand.

Now that last one, I can see. Who needs a watchband when you can just stick the watch to your wrist?
