Weight Influenced by Personality

If observed carefully, not all obese people, just as not everyone has the same personality. A recent study from the National Institutes of Health in the United States suggests that personality traits proved very helpful in determining a person's weight.

According to research, the main causes of obesity are unhealthy diet and sedentary lifestyle. These habits can cause heart disease, type 2 diabetes, cancer, arthritis, affects the psychological and significantly shorten the life.

The researchers estimate that seem likely to affect the personality of a person's ability to maintain a healthy weight. Apparently, their assumption seems correct, because the weight could be a reflection of lifestyle.

The findings, published in the Journal of Personality and Social Psychology suggests individuals with impulsive personality tend to overweight and obesity.

Impulsive person is a person's personality which tends to indulging in an instant, without considering any further consequences. Conversely, individuals who have a high level of vigilance tend to be leaner and have a normal weight.

However, this study confirms weight does not affect personalities. The most important thing is the level of self-discipline to maintain healthy eating habits and exercise, the more spoiled because people tend to easily give in to temptation.

"Basic personality traits tend to remain and defend against change, but the expression of these traits can customize. That is, treatment can help to modify the adaptation of certain characteristics that affect body weight," said the researcher, Angelina Sutin, as reported by the HuffingtonPost, Thursday (22 / 12 / 2011).

For example, individuals who are highly impulsive and low accuracy can learn to plan a menu and schedule of regular meals, and persuaded to consider that the weight loss program is a healthy way.
