The giant kangaroo Extinct because of poaching
SIDNEY - Australia had become home to the giant beasts. However, these animals become extinct since 40 thousand years ago, while the cause remains a mystery.
Global warming was sued as one cause, but it is still not convincing. Recently, Chris Johnson of the University of Tasmania School of Zoology, has revealed 130 thousand year-old evidence indicating the cause is human error.
Proclaimed Dailymail, Johnson and his team discovered the evidence through the analysis of fungal spores that live in a giant animal feces. The results showed that the animals were quickly disappeared after the arrival of humans. In other words, they became extinct due to hunting.
The research centers on a swamp called Lynch's Crater in northeast Queensland. "Our data shows that the number of giant mammals remained stable prior to the 40 thousand years ago, when stability was suddenly broken. Extinctions occurred soon after humans arrived. So perhaps it is human caused," said Johnson.
"Proof of global warming has been dropped from the list of causes of extinction. The article, there are some periods of drought before the animals were extinct, and it has no impact on the amount. Meanwhile, when they became extinct, the weather is stable," he added.
