Species "King Wasp" was found in Sulawesi

CALIFORNIA - A new species of wasps found in Southeast Sulawesi has a jaw that is longer than his legs. Coupled with the enormous size makes it look as if the king bee.

Proclaimed Dailymail, Lynn Kimsey, professor of Entomology (insect expert) at the University of California said, "His jaw was so great that wrap both sides of the head when closed. And when it opened, the jaw was actually longer than the front legs alone."

"I'll call him Garuda, as a symbol of Indonesia. I have never seen this species similar Dalara. I and my colleagues do not know anything about the biology of these wasps. The only thing I know is originally from South Sulawesi," he added.

According to Kimsey, a large jaw may have an important role in the defense and reproduction.

In other species in the family (genus) of wasp, males rely on the entrance of the nest and protect it from parasites and nest robberies.

Above actions, the males have the opportunity to marry a female every time the females return to nest. In addition, the jaw is large enough to hold the body of the thorax in females during mating.
